Beyond Green Marketing: 8 Companies Actually Solving Climate Challenges

The momentum from London Climate Action Week is still pulsing through the sustainability ecosystem, and we couldn’t be more energised about what comes next. At Growth Studio, we’re witnessing firsthand how innovative founders are turning bold ideas into scalable solutions that tackle our planet’s most pressing challenges.

Over the past 10 weeks, eight remarkable companies from across Europe have been part of the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator’s Consumer Product Programme – a transformative journey that’s reshaped not just their businesses, but our understanding of what’s possible when purpose meets innovation.

The Power of Purposeful Innovation

This cohort stands apart for several compelling reasons. First, the timing couldn’t be more significant – launching just as Europe’s sustainability momentum reaches new heights, these founders have harnessed the collective energy of movements like London Climate Action Week to accelerate their impact. Second, the breadth of solutions addresses sustainability from every angle: personal care, food systems, pet care, cleaning products, and beyond.

“What makes this cohort extraordinary isn’t just their innovative products – it’s their approach to reimagining entire industries. They’re not simply creating ‘greener’ alternatives; they’re fundamentally rethinking how we consume, produce, and live.” – Growth Studio

Meet the Founders Reshaping Tomorrow

AuraSkin [Greece] is pioneering the circular beauty economy by transforming spent coffee grounds – typically destined for landfills – into premium skincare products including lip balms, face creams, and sunscreens. Their innovative upcycling model creates win-win partnerships with coffee shops, turning waste streams into revenue opportunities while delivering effective everyday skincare solutions. The company’s momentum gained significant validation recently when their parent company, Coffeeco Upcycle, successfully closed a €1M seed round led by VDK Capital.

Bantu Chocolate [UK] is revolutionising the cacao industry through vertical integration that prioritises both environmental regeneration and ethical production. Their approach goes far beyond Fairtrade standards, implementing payment structures that ensure farmers receive wages above industry benchmarks while utilising regenerative agriculture practices. Every product comes with verified ethical credentials, creating transparency from farm to shelf and proving that premium chocolate can drive positive change throughout the supply chain.

Composty [UK] tackles one of the most overlooked contributors to microplastic pollution: conventional cleaning tools. Their durable, plastic-free sponges and cloths maintain superior cleaning effectiveness while naturally biodegrading after their useful life. Designed for extended use, Composty’s products demonstrate that high-performance household essentials don’t require persistent environmental damage.

Grace & Green [UK], a certified B Corp, is transforming period care through their comprehensive range of products – from certified organic tampons and pads to innovative reusable period underwear. Made with organic materials free from harmful chemicals, toxins, and artificial dyes, their products prioritise both sustainability and safety. The company recently achieved a major milestone, landing their products in Boots stores nationwide – a testament to growing consumer demand for responsible period care solutions.

Horée [France] brings fresh innovation to cosmetics with their seasonal approach to beauty, creating 100% vegan and plastic-free products using organic fruit and vegetable ingredients that change with nature’s cycles. Their cold manufacturing process preserves the bioactive properties of plants, aligning with a zero-waste production philosophy that challenges the beauty industry’s traditional approaches to formulation and packaging.

Hygge [Italy] recognises that sustainability extends to our furry family members, offering high-quality pet food and snacks made from human-grade ingredients sourced through local supply chains. Their philosophy centres on using premium raw materials while actively reducing environmental impact – proving that pet care can be both nutritious and responsible.

KWERKY [UK] has developed a game-changing milk alternative made from oats and peas, completely free from additives. Their lifecycle analysis reveals significantly lower carbon emissions compared to both traditional dairy and conventional oat milk. With 82% of ingredients sourced from Europe and a concentrated powder format that eliminates water weight during transportation, KWERKY exemplifies resource-efficient innovation. The company’s potential has been recognised by NatWest, which nominated them as one of the start-ups to watch.

Omuu Pet [Ireland] combines veterinary expertise with nutritional science to develop evidence-based pet products that benefit both pets and the planet. Founded by a veterinary surgeon, the company incorporates novel protein sources, including insect-based ingredients that require significantly fewer resources than conventional animal proteins. Their clinical trial approach ensures products optimise pet health while addressing critical resource efficiency challenges.

The Growth Studio Difference

Throughout this intensive 10-week programme, Growth Studio has provided specialised mentorship that goes beyond traditional business guidance. Our approach focuses on helping sustainable businesses navigate the unique challenges of scaling purpose-driven innovation – from supply chain optimisation to impact measurement, market positioning to investor readiness.

What sets this cohort apart is their readiness to scale. These aren’t just clever concepts; they’re market-tested solutions with proven traction, clear paths to profitability, and the strategic vision necessary for transformative impact.

Demo Day: Where Innovation Meets Opportunity

On July 3rd at the iconic Barbican Centre in London, these eight trailblazing companies took the stage for what promises to be one of the year’s most compelling startup showcases. This wasn’t your typical pitch event – it was a celebration of innovation that matters, solutions that scale, and founders who are genuinely changing how we think about consumption and sustainability.

The morning kicked off at 9:00 AM with coffee and networking (perfectly timed for the caffeine-powered conversations that fuel great partnerships), with pitches beginning promptly at 10:00 AM. Special guest speakers The Tempest Two energised the audience between presentations, and the conservatory networking session afterward provided ideal opportunities for deeper connections with founders, investors, and sustainability champions.

But Demo Day represented more than just presentations – it was the culmination of intensive development, strategic refinement, and market validation. These companies have evolved significantly during their accelerator journey, and they were ready to demonstrate not just what they’ve built, but where they’re headed next.

Beyond Demo Day: Scaling Impact

The Amazon Sustainability Accelerator provides participating companies with more than just mentorship and funding – it offers £10,000 cash grants, $10,000 AWS credits, specialised mentorship, climate impact assessments, and support for launching on Amazon’s platform. More importantly, it connects them with Amazon’s vast network and resources, creating pathways for scaling that few accelerators can match.

For these eight companies, Demo Day marks not an ending, but a new beginning. They’ve refined their value propositions, validated their market approaches, and built the strategic foundations necessary for sustainable growth. Now they’re ready to scale their impact.

Why This Matters Now

We’re at an inflection point in sustainability innovation. Consumer awareness is driving demand for genuinely sustainable products, investment capital is flowing toward climate solutions, and regulatory environments increasingly favour responsible business practices. This cohort represents exactly the kind of innovation the market is demanding – solutions that deliver superior performance while addressing critical environmental challenges.

Their success matters because it demonstrates that sustainability isn’t about compromise – it’s about reimagining what’s possible. From upcycled skincare to insect-based pet nutrition, from plastic-free cleaning to regenerative chocolate, these companies prove that the most sustainable solutions are often the most innovative.

Join the Movement

Whether you’re an investor seeking the next generation of sustainable innovation, a corporate partner looking for breakthrough solutions, or simply someone who believes business can be a force for positive change, Demo Day offered an unparalleled opportunity to connect with the founders reshaping tomorrow.

The future of sustainable business isn’t theoretical – it’s happening right now, driven by entrepreneurs who refuse to accept that we must choose between performance and responsibility. These eight companies represent the vanguard of that movement.
